Description +
SummaryThe Hanse 371 is a highly regarded performance cruising yacht designed by Judel/Vrolijk, combining a powerful hull form with a comfortable and practical interior layout. With her efficient fractional rig, broad beam carried aft and deep cockpit, the Hanse 371 delivers excellent sailing performance while remaining easy to handle short-handed. This vessel is fitted with a Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine and offers generous accommodation, ample storage, and a bright, well-ventilated interior, making her well suited for extended cruising as well as club racing. Dark and Scary has excellent inventory including Carbon racing sails from Saturn Sails
Construction The hull is of GRP construction using a solid laminate below the waterline for strength and durability, with a balsa core above the waterline to reduce weight and increase stiffness. The hull is finished in white gelcoat and incorporates the Hanse signature chines and wide stern sections, contributing to stability and interior volume.
The deck is also GRP with a balsa core and molded non-slip surfaces, providing secure footing throughout. Hull and deck are bonded and mechanically fastened, forming a strong and rigid structure.
The keel is a fin keel configuration, manufactured in cast iron or lead depending on build specification, and secured with stainless steel keel bolts.
The rudder is a semi-balanced spade rudder with a stainless steel stock, providing light and responsive helm control under sail and power. Rudder bearing replaced 2023
The cockpit is spacious and ergonomically designed, with deep seating, excellent bracing, and clear access to the swim platform at the stern.
MechanicalEngine and Propulsion
The vessel is powered by a Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine producing approximately 29 horsepower.
The engine is freshwater cooled via a heat exchanger.
Drive is via a saildrive unit, .
The propeller is a two-blade folding.
Engine controls are located at the helm with a single lever throttle and gear selector, and engine instrumentation provides RPM, engine hours, temperature, oil pressure, and audible alarms.
Steering
Wheel steering is fitted, operating through a cable and quadrant system connected directly to the rudder stock. This arrangement provides positive feedback and precise handling. An emergency tiller is supplied and stowed for use in the event of steering system failure.
Electrics
The electrical system is based on a 12-volt DC installation throughout the vessel.
Power is supplied by a dedicated engine start battery and a domestic service battery bank, typically located close to the engine for efficient charging.
Charging is provided by the engine alternator, with an additional shore power and battery charger depending on specification.
Electrical distribution is managed through a central DC switch and circuit breaker panel, allowing safe isolation and control of onboard systems.
Interior lighting is provided throughout the accommodation, complemented by navigation lights, anchor light, and engine compartment lighting.
Wiring is marine-grade and installed in accordance with standard marine electrical practices.
Water System and Tankage
The fresh water system is pressurized and supplies both hot and cold water to the galley and heads.
Hot water is provided by a calorifier heated via the engine cooling circuit and, where fitted, shore power immersion.
The galley and heads are equipped with mixers and adequate drainage.
Bilge drainage is managed by manual and electric bilge pumps for safety and redundancy
