Description +
DescriptionThe Westerly Sealord is a robust, center-cockpit cruising sailboat built by Westerly Yachts in the UK between 1983 and 1987. Designed by the renowned naval architect Ed Dubois, it was originally launched as the company's flagship. Only 42 hulls were completed before production shifted toward smaller or revamped models like the Oceanlord. Today, it is highly regarded as a capable, long-distance blue-water cruiser.
Design & Performance
Heavy weather specialist While it can be a bit sluggish in very light winds, the Sealord thrives in boisterous heavy weather. It is a stiff, powerful, and highly stable boat that can be pushed hard offshore.
Load Carrier It features incredible storage and weight-carrying capacities, making it easy to store months of provisions for long voyages.
Layout It is built with a deep, safe center cockpit. Below deck, it offers a spacious saloon, a practical sea-galley, a dedicated navigation station, two heads, and up to 7-10 berths depending on configuration—including a large master aft cabin.
Blue Note is a fine example of this sort after yacht she comes equipped with diesel heating, navigation instruments including sat phone dinghy and outboard.
Construction The Westerly Sealord 39 features a robust Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) / fiberglass hull and deck built under Lloyd's Register quality standards.
Designed by renowned naval architect Ed Dubois.
Built in the United Kingdom by Westerly Yachts Ltd (also known as Westerly Marine Construction Ltd).
Solid hand-laid GRP (fiberglass) molding for durability and blue-water capability.
Fin keel with an estimated 43% ballast ratio, paired with a semi-balanced spade rudder.
Features a center cockpit configuration designed for offshore cruising comfort and safety
