Who Bought David Bowie's Beloved Yacht El Caran?

"I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring." — David Bowie David Bowie lived life with style, creativity, and a sense of adventure. That spirit showed not just in his music, but in the way he traveled. In the 1980s, while many stars were flying around the world, Bowie—who had a fear of flying—chose to travel by sea.

El Caran, was more than just a boat, She was a unique yacht once belonged to a man who viewed the world differently - through an artistic lens, always seeking the extraordinary.

Built by Benetti in 1977, this classic yacht recently found a new owner. Now sailing under the name Deneb’s Daughter, she’s been transformed into a luxury charter yacht—but she still carries the magic of her past.

The transaction was handled by Fraser Yachts’ Palma office, with broker Giulio Riggio representing both the seller and the buyer. While the identity of the new owner hasn’t been publicly disclosed, what is certain is that Bowie’s former yacht has begun a new chapter in her storied life: as a luxury charter yacht cruising the Mediterranean.

Today, Bowie’s former yacht sails under the name Deneb’s Daughter and is available for charter.

Guests can now book Deneb’s Daughter for a Mediterranean escape, immersing themselves in the same sea air and ambiance that once soothed one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

This special superyacht is currently ( 17.07.2025) in Malta. If you're nearby, don’t miss the chance to snap a photo before she sets sail.
