Groupe Beneteau Plans New Refit Hub in France

Groupe Beneteau has announced plans for a new 15,000-square-metre site in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, to expand its services for large yachts and refit capacity in the Mediterranean. The project will build on the expertise of BMS, which joined the Group in October 2025. The facility is expected to become operational in mid-2029.

“By combining BMS’s expertise with the Group’s resources, we aim to develop a Mediterranean hub in Canet dedicated to services for large yachts,” said Clément Himily, Managing Director of Groupe Beneteau’s Sailing Business Unit.

He added that the site would help expand the Group’s NEO refit program, with the ambition of becoming a global benchmark for refits in the 60- to 80-foot segment.

Expanding Services for Large Yachts

BMS specializes in the maintenance, customization and refit of large catamarans. The new site will extend these services to sailing and power catamarans, as well as monohulls over 60 feet. It will also increase capacity for preparing and installing equipment on new boats.

The initial project includes approximately 2,200 square metres of built space, subject to the necessary studies and permits. This area could double in a second phase, with the option to add another 10,000 square metres of land.

The investment supports Groupe Beneteau’s strategy of developing service hubs with direct waterfront access. Another project, Port Olona 3 in Les Sables-d’Olonne, is expected to strengthen the preparation, customization and commissioning of new boats.

NEO Refit Program to Expand

The Canet site will provide additional capacity for NEO, Groupe Beneteau’s program for refitting pre-owned boats.

Announced at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the expanded program increases the offering from two to eight models across the LAGOON, BENETEAU and JEANNEAU brands. NEO aims to extend boats’ service lives by making manufacturer-refurbished and upgraded boats more accessible.

The program uses the original manufacturer’s expertise, including design plans, composite molds and parts lists linked to each hull number. This allows the team to assess each boat and identify the parts and work required. Inspections and compliance with Groupe Beneteau’s brand standards are also part of the process.

Following two refit projects in the first half of 2026—a Lagoon 42 and a Lagoon 450—the Group plans to increase production to 130 refitted boats annually by 2030.

By that time, the Canet site could handle around 10 large yachts per year, working alongside the Group’s other service hubs.

Training for Owners and Crews

A second phase could include a dedicated training area for yacht owners and crews. Training would cover boat handling, safety and onboard systems, using either owners’ own boats or equivalent models.

The facility could also host customer academies and industry events.
