Wally Launches New wallyrocket71 at Loro Piana Giraglia 2025
Wally has officially launched its newest racing yacht, the wallyrocket71, at the Loro Piana Giraglia regatta. Designed by Botin Partners and built by King Marine, this light and fast yacht was developed with owner Giovanni Lombardi Stronati and Wally’s expert team.
The wallyrocket71 is the bigger sister of the successful wallyrocket51. It’s packed with smart features like twin rudders, a lightweight hull, and 2.7 tons of water ballast that can shift sides in just six seconds. Sea trials show it hits 10.5–11 knots upwind and can even match wind speed downwind.
“Sailing this boat is pure joy - fast, light, and exciting,” says tactician Vasco Vascotto. Strategist Guillermo Parada adds that it’s built to take on the best Maxi 72s, with a smart design and strong performance.
Wally is having a great year in racing, with 15 yachts competing around the world. From the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, Wally boats have been winning at major events like the St Barths Bucket, Palmavela, and Tre Golfi.
The race season continues with big events like the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, and the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
