Kalamış & Fenerbahçe Marina to Set a New Benchmark in Istanbul
Kalamış & Fenerbahçe Marina is being transformed into a more open, sustainable and accessible waterfront destination, setting new standards for marina development in Istanbul.
The project is led by Setur Marinas, part of the Koç Group, which operates 13 marinas and one land park across Türkiye. It reflects a wider shift toward marinas that are not only operational hubs, but also social and community spaces.
Located in Kadıköy, the redevelopment will open up 3,000 metres of coastline for public use. Previously restricted breakwaters and 640 metres of private waterfront will become accessible, creating a continuous promenade that reconnects the city with the sea.
According to Setur Marinas General Manager Emre Doruk, the project focuses on long-term value - offering high-standard services while protecting natural assets and creating “living social spaces” integrated with the neighbourhood.
The plan also reshapes how space is used. Green areas will grow from 5,334 m² to 17,859 m², while the boatyard will be reduced from 23,000 m² to 9,150 m². A new 2,500 m² waterfront square will host events, dining and everyday social life.
Sustainability is a key pillar. EV charging will exceed 60 units, all service fleets will go electric, and upgraded systems will support zero-waste, zero-discharge operations and water recycling.
The marina will also become more inclusive, with better accessibility, youth sailing programmes and initiatives to support marine life, including artificial reefs.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, Kalamış & Fenerbahçe Marina is set to balance marina operations with public access, environmental responsibility and vibrant waterfront living.
