Ferrari Unveils Its New Ferrari Hypersail Project
Ferrari has announced a new project that takes the brand beyond motorsports and into offshore sailing. The Ferrari Hypersail project is an R&D-focused initiative that brings together expertise in performance engineering and nautical innovation. Still in development, the project will result in a 100-foot flying monohull — Ferrari’s first foray into ocean racing.
Led by experienced ocean sailor Giovanni Soldini, the Hypersail project aims to serve as a testing ground for advanced technologies in sailing. The name "Hypersail" references Ferrari’s Hypercars — vehicles built for endurance and performance — and signals a similar approach at sea.
The yacht, designed by French naval architect Guillaume Verdier, introduces a new concept in monohull design: flight stabilization on three contact points — a foil on a canting keel, a rudder foil, and alternating lateral foils.
Currently under construction in Italy, the yacht is expected to launch in 2026. It will also be the first 100-foot racing yacht designed to be completely energy self-sufficient.
The Hypersail team includes engineers from Ferrari working closely with nautical specialists. Marco Guglielmo Ribigini and Matteo Lanzavecchia, both with long careers at Ferrari, lead the technical aspects of the project.
