Crew members rescued from the sinking yacht Da Vinci near Ibiza

A 29-metre motor yacht named Da Vinci went up in flames off Formentera, Spain, on Monday. All seven people on board — four passengers, two crew members, and the captain — were rescued safely, but the vessel was lost to the blaze and sank.

Spanish maritime authorities confirmed that all seven crew members were evacuated safely and are in good condition. The incident occurred about 7.3 miles southwest of Formentera, a small island near Ibiza, when thick plumes of dark grey smoke were spotted billowing from the burning vessel.

Footage released by Salvamento Marítimo (the maritime search and rescue department in Spain) shows the yacht completely engulfed in flames as emergency services rushed to the scene. The rescue operation involved the Guardamar Concepción Arenal and Salvamar Naos, with the latter transporting firefighters and evacuating the crew to shore.

Despite efforts to contain the blaze, the fire proved uncontrollable, and the Da Vinci eventually sank. Authorities remain in the area conducting debris clean-up operations.
