According to local reports, the yacht began taking on water on the evening of May 30 and gradually submerged overnight, leaving only parts of the superstructure visible by the following morning.
The cause of the sinking remains unknown, although heavy rainfall was reported in the area. Salvage operations are now reportedly underway.
Originally delivered in 2024 by Bering Yachts as Phnx, Familia had recently completed an extensive six-month refit, including a two-metre hull extension, before returning to service earlier this year.
