MV Brigitte Bardot: A Record-Breaking Yacht Named for an Icon
(Photo: Fraser Yachts) In Memory of Brigitte Bardot (1934-2025) Few vessels in modern maritime history carry a name as symbolic—or a story as compelling—as MV Brigitte Bardot. Formerly known as Gojira, Rat Race Media Adventurer, Ocean 7 Adventurer, and Cable & Wireless Adventurer, the yacht stands as a technical marvel, a world-record holder, and a fitting tribute to one of the most influential cultural and environmental figures of the 20th century.
Designed by renowned naval architect Nigel Irens and built in 1998 by Vosper Thornycroft, Brigitte Bardot is a high-tech, stabilized monohull engineered for speed, endurance, and global exploration. Constructed in fiberglass/GRP, the 33.17-metre vessel was purpose-built to challenge limits - and succeeded spectacularly.
A Yacht That Rewrote the Record Books
Brigitte Bardot achieved global recognition in July 1998, when she successfully circumnavigated the world in just 74 days, 20 hours, and 58 minutes, covering more than 22,600 nautical miles. This extraordinary feat established a new Guinness World Record for the fastest powered vessel to circumnavigate the globe at the time.
The yacht also set another milestone, traveling further south than any other multihull yacht had ever reached - underscoring her robust design and ocean-going capability.
Powered by twin Cummins diesel engines delivering 500 hp each, she cruises comfortably at 18 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 22 knots, and boasts an impressive range of 3,500 nautical miles. New engines installed in 2018, along with top-tier navigation systems, ensure she remains technically relevant and expedition-ready today.
Interior & Capability
With accommodation for up to 12 guests in six commercial-style cabins, Brigitte Bardot blends practicality with purpose. Her layout reflects her expedition DNA - functional, durable, and adaptable - making her ideal for an owner seeking a yacht that stands apart from conventional luxury vessels.
Following extensive mechanical and exterior works, she emerges stronger, more capable, and ready for her next chapter, offering a rare opportunity to own a vessel with true pedigree.
Note: Brigitte Bardot was a lifelong animal rights activist. It is a fitting coincidence that the yacht bearing her name spent 11 years with Sea Shepherd, confronting illegal whaling and protecting endangered marine species. The vessel was retired and sold in 2021.
