Ellison’s Superyacht Becomes Stage for Anti-Trump Protest
Anti-Donald Trump activists staged a high-profile protest targeting the $160 million superyacht of billionaire tech entrepreneur Larry Ellison, drawing attention to the intersection of technology, wealth, and politics.
The activists approached the 88-metre Musashi, anchored off the coast of France, in a speedboat and carried out a symbolic action by affixing large letters reading “The Trump Propagandist” to the yacht’s hull, highlighting Ellison’s perceived ties to Donald Trump.
The protest stems from Ellison’s recent public support and political contributions to Donald Trump, with activists aiming to use symbolic interventions to draw public attention and question the political influence of high-profile business figures.
Ellison had previously been at the center of controversy over yacht names. The businessman faced backlash because the name ‘Izanami’, which he had chosen inspired by a Japanese expression, could be interpreted as “I am a Nazi” when read backwards. Following this controversy, he changed the yacht’s name to ‘Ronin’ and subsequently put it up for sale.
