Shipyards and boat builders: motor yachts/cabin boats

History: Bruce Nescher (Arizona) adopted the trade name "Sleek Craft" in 1968 and manufactured boats as a sole proprietor until 1980. In the mid-1970s, Nescher adopted the second trade name, "Sleek Craft by Nescher".
In June 1980 a new corporation called "Sleek Craft Boats by Nescher, Inc." was formed (Nescher and two others) and unfinished boats, material and skills were transfered from Nescher to this new corporation.
In February 1989, Sleek Craft Boats by Nescher, Inc. became bankrupt (Chapter 11, later converted to Chapter 7).
In November 1989, some boat-making equipment was transfered to Conquest Boats in Lake Havasu City, Arizona (another company of Nescher).
In the summer of 1990, Mr. Roger Finney of Conquest, after discussing the matter with Nescher, formed an Arizona corporation called "Sleek Craft, Inc.".
In the same summer, after Nescher resigned as president of the bancrupt Sleek Craft Boats by Nescher, Inc., the company American Sleek Craft, Inc., California aquired the assets and rights from the bancrupt company.
After that, there was a lawsuit for the trade mark "Sleek Craft" between Nescher and American Sleek Craft, Inc.
Since then, the right to the name Sleek Craft went to American Sleek Craft, Inc.

Over the last decade the product line has grown to include center consoles, pilot houses, and cabin models from 23 to 43 feet.
