JFA 53 DS - ALUMINIUM BUILT FOR BLUEWATER CRUISING
Built by the French yard JFA, a recognised name in custom metal construction, this 2003 53 DS is aimed at crews who want to go far without giving up comfort. Deck saloon, aluminium hull, serious range: the brief is clear, a true long-distance cruiser equally at home in high latitudes and on ocean passages, under FRANCE flag. Price: 459,000 € VAT paid.
Build and seakeeping
16.30 m overall, 4.69 m beam, 3.30 m draft and 22,000 kg: the proportions speak of a genuine seaboat, stable and reassuring at the helm. The aluminium hull brings the strength and longevity typical of the material, while the deck is laid in teak. The sail wardrobe includes a fully battened in-mast mainsail, genoa, furling jib, staysail, storm jib, spinnaker and gennaker, with boom fitted with lazy jacks and lazy bag for easy shorthanded handling.
Power and autonomy
The 115 hp NANNI N4.115, seawater cooled, shaft drive, shows 1 hour. At a 7-knot cruising speed for 7 l/h, and with 1,400 litres of fuel and 1,400 litres of fresh water, range matches the programme. Below, 3 cabins and 8 berths, up to 14 people on board, with convertible saloon, hot water, full galley and 12V, 24V and 220V circuits.
