Remarks :
The Dufour 40 Performance is one of those rare boats that does everything well. Fast enough to race, comfortable enough to cross oceans, and simple enough to sail single-handed - she was designed by Umberto Felci at the peak of his powers and it shows in every tack.
This particular boat has lived a full life. She has crossed the Atlantic solo, wintered ashore every season, and been looked after by owners who understood what they had. The result is a vessel that carries her 22 years lightly.
Layout
2-cabin version with a heads and separate shower. The forward berth has been enlarged to 220 x 150cm with a custom mattress - noticeably wider than the original factory fit. A dedicated heated foul-weather locker keeps wet gear separate from the living space. The aft storage locker is cavernous. Saloon converts to an additional berth.
Webasto diesel heating throughout with insulated ducting, digital timer panel, and optional ventilation mode for warmer climates. Full LED lighting, plus dimmable LED strip with remote in the saloon, galley, and forward cabin.
Mechanical
Volvo MD2040 inboard (2,300 hours) with a new alternator and Max Prop three-blade folding propeller.
Electrical
400W solar across four panels managed by a Victron Energy MPPT 100/50, monitored in real time via Bluetooth. Three 110Ah service batteries. 12V/220V inverter. Dual USB ports in every cabin and at the chart table.
Navigation & Electronics
AIS transceiver integrated with OpenCPN. Furuno 1623 radar. Furuno GP-32 GPS. Navtex NX-300. DSC VHF with wireless repeater and MOB wristband. Speedometer, depthsounder, and anemometer with chart table repeater. Marine-grade 12V computer and flat screen on a rotating arm, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connected.
Sail Wardrobe
Full batten mainsail with three reefing points - reefs two and three operable from the cockpit without leaving the helm. Furling genoa on Facnor furler. Both in Dimension Polyant DCX tri-radial and like new. Symmetrical spinnaker in good condition. Storm jib on removable stay, barely used.
Safety
EPIRB serviced 02/2024. Life raft serviced 12/2023. Full offshore safety kit. 100m anchor rode with 60m of chain and an oversized Delta anchor. Secondary anchor with chain and line.
