Descrição +
Laurent Giles - A classic sailboat, respectfully modernized for comfortable navigation in the modern era. Well-equipped with all the usual amenities, this meticulously renovated sailboat offers a harmonious blend of tradition and modern sailing comfort.
The Scythe, designed by British naval architect Laurent Giles, perfectly embodies the timeless elegance and exceptional performance associated with his creations. Laurent Giles was renowned for his ability to design sailboats suited for various sizes and uses, ranging from pleasure boats to racing yachts and offshore cruisers. With the Scythe, you have the opportunity to own a classic sailboat that embodies the elegance, performance, and craftsmanship of naval architect Laurent Giles.
Specifications: The Scythe is a classic sailboat with a length overall (LOA) of 12.8 meters and a length at the waterline (LWL) of 9 meters. It has a beam of 3.2 meters and a draft of 2.1 meters, with a displacement of 8,400 kg.
The cockpit is positioned aft to provide an enhanced view of the surrounding marine environment. The wooden hull features a monohull design and was constructed by Cardnell Brothers in 1962 based on Laurent Giles' design. It has a fin keel and a wheel steering system.
Navigation equipment includes radar, a chartplotter, a compass, a speed log, a wind indicator, a depth sounder, and a VHF radio. Additionally, there is a compass, a wind vane, a GPS radar, a Navtex system, a fishfinder, a VHF radio, and a searchlight on board.
The Scythe's sails include a 2003 mainsail with a McWilliams' free-footed reduction system, a McWilliams roller-furling genoa (2003), and a McWilliams' mizzen sail (2003). The boat is also equipped with a cruising sail, a yankee, a staysail, and two spinnakers, all in good condition.
The rigging is with an aluminum mast. The stainless steel shrouds were replaced in 2000. A spinnaker pole is mounted on the mast.
In terms of safety, the Scythe is equipped with a life raft, life jackets for 6 people, lifelines, life buoys, and a radar reflector. It also features an emergency tiller, a gas alarm, a fire blanket, and a fire extinguisher.
The deck is equipped with an electric windlass, 2 anchors with 40 meters of chain, as well as fenders and a davit. A sprayhood and sail covers are also included.
The Scythe's electrical system operates on 12V and 220V. It is equipped with 2 domestic batteries, 2 engine batteries, and a battery charger that operates with either the engine or shore power. The boat is connected to shore power.
The main engine is a Yanmar 3HM 35, a 35 horsepower diesel engine. It was overhauled in 2010 and consumes approximately 3 liters per hour. The engine is coupled with a variable-pitch three-blade propeller and is shaft-driven.
Accommodation on board the Scythe includes a cabin with 1 double bed and 3 single beds, providing a total of 5 berths. There is a shower room and a kitchen equipped with an oven, grill, and stove. The Webasto hydronic heating system ensures comfort on board.
Scythe is currently moored in West Cork, Ireland, and can be viewed on land.
