Die Beelitz-Werft wurde 1883 von Robert Beelitz in Berlin am Wannsee gegründet. Der Sohn Robert lernte Bootsbauer und machte sich um 1928 selbstständig mit einem Werftbetrieb. Mit dem Schwerpunkt Motorboote baute er sowohl nach eigenen Rissen als auch nach Plänen von Arthur Tiller und Karl Martens. 1955 legte der Enkel Robert Beelitz seine Meisterprüfung als Bootsbauer ab. 1967 siedelten Vater Robert und der gleichnamige Sohn den Betrieb nach Fehmarnsund an der Oststee um. Schließlich verkaufte Robert Beelitz die Werft an Josef Martin.
