Gildeboeier 630 with characterWhat type of boat is the Gildeboeier 630?This 1999 Gildeboeier 630 is a traditionally styled, round-bilged polyester boat. With a length of 6.30 metres and a beam of 2.55 metres, she offers surprisingly generous space, particularly in the cockpit. The fisherman’s version has a sheltered, deeper cockpit with wide seating benches. At the aft end of the cockpit is a self-draining section above the engine compartment. This provides room for several people during a day on the water.
Although her hull is made of polyester, the extensive use of wood gives the boat a classic appearance. The wooden mast and wooden finish give her a character of her own. The air draft is approximately 9.40 metres. Inside, the headroom is limited to around 1.00 metre, making her mainly suitable for day trips and short stays on board. A fixed double berth is located in the forepeak.
What is this boat suitable for?The Gildeboeier 630 is suitable for relaxed recreational boating on inland waterways, lakes, ponds and rivers. She has been used on the Hollands Diep and Haringvliet, among other places, and previously on the Frisian waterways and the IJsselmeer. Her steady handling and stable character make her appealing to anyone who wants to cruise quietly, anchor up or make short trips from a harbour.
The spacious cockpit is the boat’s main living area. The deeper section of the cockpit can be covered with the cockpit tent provided. This offers additional shelter during a stay in the harbour or while at anchor. The tent also allows the cockpit to be used more as an outdoor living area when the weather is less favourable.
What are the sleeping arrangements and layout like? There is a spacious sleeping area for two people in the forepeak. The interior is compact and has approximately 1.00 metre of headroom. She is therefore not designed as a spacious cabin boat, but does provide practical sleeping accommodation for one night or a short stay. The emphasis is clearly on using the cockpit and sailing during the day.
Steering is carried out from outside using a tiller. The boat has a single rudder and a self-draining cockpit. No separate toilet installation is listed. The toilet outlet does not discharge directly into open water. The boat is also equipped with an electric bilge pump, a bathing ladder, fenders and lines.
What engine and equipment does she have? The boat is fitted with a 1999 Vetus M204 inboard diesel engine. This two-cylinder diesel produces 11 hp and has electric starting. According to the information provided, the engine is operational. The fuel tank has a capacity of 20 litres. An oil-pressure gauge and a temperature gauge are fitted on board.
The electrical system consists of an alternator, battery charger, shore-power connection and one battery with a capacity of 60 amp-hours. The engine compartment is located beneath the aft section of the cockpit. The last time the boat was out of the water for maintenance was in 2025. The most recent antifouling treatment took place in 2026.
How is the sail plan configured? The Gildeboeier 630 has one wooden mast and two sails: a jib and a mainsail. The mainsail has two reefing points with reefing pennants. The jib has one reefing point. In 2024, a reefing pennant was fitted to the boom as part of the reefing system. Running backstays were also installed at that time. The owner states that tensioning the windward running backstay helped to tighten the forestay and, consequently, the luff of the jib.
The sails are described as being in good condition. However, the mast has a slight curve to starboard. This point should be inspected carefully during the viewing day. The sail plan is designed for practical use and allows the sail area to be reduced as the wind increases.
What are the known points of attention? The plywood floor supports in the cockpit show some signs of water ingress. This is a known point of attention that the buyer can assess personally during the viewing day. In addition, the wooden mast has a slight curve to starboard. These points have been expressly mentioned to provide a realistic picture of the boat.
According to the information provided, the boat is in good condition, but a used boat from 1999 naturally requires the buyer’s own assessment. The woodwork, sealant joints, fittings, engine compartment, electrical installation and trailer condition all deserve attention. The viewing day is the appropriate opportunity to inspect her specification, finish and known points of attention at leisure.
Is the trailer included?Yes, a storage trailer is included in the sale. The trailer has three axles, is unbraked and is not tilting. Its stated weight is 2,500 kilograms. The trailer’s year of manufacture is unknown and it does not have a winch. The condition of the trailer is described as good.
A flagpole with a Dutch flag is also included. The existing covers, cockpit tent, bathing ladder, fenders and lines are likewise part of the boat’s equipment. This means she is practically equipped for use ashore and in the harbour.

During the viewing day, also inspect the accessibility of technical components and the general condition of the sails and equipment.
For anyone looking to buy a second-hand boat, its history of use is valuable information. According to the available information, this boat has been used for day trips and recreational boating on inland waterways, lakes, ponds and rivers. The current owner mainly used her on the Hollands Diep and Haringvliet. The boat is being sold because sailing single-handed in stronger winds has become more difficult for the owner.
