Versatilità, qualità marine e soluzioni originali sono i punti di forza del First 41 s5 che nasce dalla collaborazione tra Bénéteau e il progettista Philippe Strack. Prodotto in circa 350 esemplari dal 1989 al 1994, viene proposto con tre versioni di bulbo: chiglia con alette a basso pescaggio, chiglia lunga in ghisa o nella versione più sportiva in piombo. Piacevole il design della tuga, arrotondata e dotata di numerosi osteriggi, anche se non agevola certo la mobilità dell'equipaggio in condizioni di navigazione impegnativa. L'albero con armo frazionato a 9/10 ha due ordini di crocette acquartierate senza sartie volanti. Curioso anche il look degli interni grazie alle forme arrotondate degli allestimenti in mogano crosso e alluminio satinato.
