The Hurley 800 was built at Jachtbouw Twente, NL and was designed by a Danish architect. Despite its compact dimensions, the Hurley has seaworthy sailing characteristics. With the long keel and 50% ballast share the Hurley sails very stable. Steering with the tiller is light and comfortable, the seat in the cockpit fitted with teak is excellent even under sail. The sail quiver consists of a high aspect furling jib, genoa, battened mainsail and a gennaker. The mainsail can be fully reefed from the cockpit. In addition to the log-depth meter and compass, the Furuno GPS / plotter can also be read from the steering position thanks to a convenient folding system. The Hurley is therefore also good to sail singlehanded. The Vetus 11hp diesel engine receives annual maintenance at a service company. This Hurley 800 has been stored on the hard every winter covered by a winter tent.
The classic-looking interior is made of mahogany and is in good condition. The retrofitted ceiling provides a better appearance compared to the standard models. The cabin is equipped with two standard settee benches. The cabin table can be moved sideways to make it easier to walk past. With the door of the heads the forepeak can be changed into a private hut, including a handy closet. The practical layout offers sleeping berths for 5 people. By raising the back support of the starboard bench, a spacious sleeping area is created. The aft quarter berth has a good size and length. The galley has an Origo 3000 stove, Waeco top loading cooler and sink with running water. The extendable chart table is simple but very practical. Throughout the cabin are various cabinets for storage.
